Hello! My name is Amanda and Little Tranquility is a place where I share bits and pieces of my daily life as well as things I love and things that inspire me. I currently reside in Seattle, Washington with my boyfriend, Adam, and our sweet kitty, Mia.
On January 1st, 2010, I started a photo-a-day blog as a way to push myself creatively and sharpen my photography skills. I updated the blog daily, featuring an image I had taken as well as a short (or sometimes long) blurb about my day. As the blog wrapped up at the end of the year and I posted my last photo on December 31st, 2010, I found myself a bit sad, but also a tad relieved that I no longer had a blog to tend to. My dad was my most loyal reader throughout the year and as the days in 2011 came and went, he would occasionally avow that he really missed checking in on the blog every morning and encouraged me to start a new one.
So, in June of that year, I was itching for a change and (with no real plan at all) decided to move from Wisconsin to Washington, DC to start a new chapter of my life. Being away from my friends and family, I found this to be the perfect opportunity to give blogging another shot. That summer, I started a casual lifestyle blog to keep my dad (and anyone else who cared enough to read) up-to-date with my new life on the East Coast. It was fun, kept me writing, and gave me a place to share my photography once more.
Little did I know there was an underground blogging community full of writers, explorers, and photographers who all had blogs just like mine. After receiving comments from sweet strangers on a few of my entries back in 2011 and discovering this awesome, new world, I became intrigued and dove right in. Little Tranquility soon transformed from being a casual lifestyle blog into a serious, full-time hobby. I guess you could say the rest is history?
After leaving DC in the fall of 2012, I headed back to Wisconsin and then packed up my belongings and drove to Seattle shortly after (again, with no real plan in mind), to embark on yet another interesting adventure. Seattle has been my home since the summer of 2013, and I’ve definitely fallen a bit head over heels for the Pacific Northwest, so I think I’ll stay put this time around…
After blogging here for many years, I’ve decided to start 2015 with a fresh slate and wanted to give my website a new look and feel. I dropped the “blogspot” and am now a proud website owner. I’m so excited and extremely grateful to have met so many wonderful people through blogging and to have retained some loyal readers (hi, dad!) along the way. Thank you so much for sticking around! I truly appreciate your love and support. Here’s to another great year full of change, growth, and exploration.
