For my friend Max’s birthday this year, we rented a cabin and spent the weekend with our climbing crew in Leavenworth, WA. The cabin was awesome and we all fell in love pretty quickly. We decided we’re going to buy our own cabin ASAP and split the cost eight ways… (Ha.) I forgot to take pictures of the hot tub (ugh), but aside from the cow pinata wearing a sombrero, that was obviously my favorite part.
Within 45 minutes of our arrival, we found a giant pile of wood in the yard, so of course we all had to take turns chopping it to bits… I wasn’t wearing the appropriate attire, but I couldn’t resist!
In the morning, Max opened his birthday presents and then we geared up for a day of climbing in the Icicle Creek area. (He was yelling at Sarah in this picture for taking the customs sticker off the package his parents sent him from Germany which described ~in detail~ what was inside the box, haha.)
We found a lake on the way home… Sorta. We basically weaseled our way into a campground full of families and walked down to the water on a trail that weaved through the campsites… Whoops! It was cold. I didn’t go in because I’m a wuss.
After eating the delicious veggie tacos Sarah made that night, we sang to Max and then devoured brownies and beer for the remainder of the evening. Overall, I’d say it was a pretty solid weekend. Happy Birthday, Max!

That looks like an amazing time!! I used to chop wood for the fireplace in my old house, it was always a lot of fun!

Oh my gosh, I love Leavenworth! We have been there quite a few times and it just gets better and better. Last time we went it was during Christmas-time which was amazing, insanely packed and busy, but so amazing. Have you been in the winter yet?
P.S. I absolutely adore your blog!

Agreed – it’s such a cute place. I need to go back this winter and take photos of the adorable town! And thank you! 🙂
