Sailing & Snorkeling in Milos, Greece

Hello and happy Monday! I'm slowly but surely going through our honeymoon photos... I wish I was disciplined enough to do this in a timely fashion! New Year's resolution??Anyway, here are some photos from the sailing and snorkeling tour we went on in Milos. Adam and I aren't usually the tour-types when we travel, but I found this one online before we left for Greece and thought it looked fun. We were on a huge boat out on the water for roughly eight or nine hours! I'm surprised only one person got seasick; a nine-year-old girl from Australia. It was a very long day indeed, and I think we went through almost an entire bottle of sunscreen.Milos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourI don't have any photos of the boat we were on for some reason. I could have sworn I took some, but I guess not. I want to say there were around 14 people on the tour with us, plus three workers... needless to say we all got pretty cozy with each other, that's for sure. The company we went with was called Excellent Yachting, and the guys working that day were so kind and knew the area like the back of their hands. Apparently, they're all liveaboards. Adam was super jealous. :) Here's a photo of one of them; his name was Philip:Milos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourPhilip took us out in groups on the dinghy so we could get a closer look at the rocks and explore the caves. It was such a beautiful area! I loved the caves; we had to duck as we went in. The water was so crazy blue it almost looked like it was glowing, and the rocks were orange, yellow, purple... It was breathtaking.Milos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourI love that photo - Philip caught me snapping a silly shot of Adam, haha. We got along really well with everyone on the tour. There were people from Belgium, Australia, France, Canada, and the states. We met a couple from Boston who were also on their honeymoon, and they got married on the same day we did! We spent the whole day cruising around on the boat, occasionally stopping to jump in the water, snorkel a bit, or eat a snack. I think we did this five or so times. I love snorkeling, but unfortunately, there really wasn't much to see. We saw a cool fish here or there, but overall the water was pretty empty. It made me sad, really. Greece is definitely starting to see the effects of overfishing. What a shame!Milos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourWe all felt pretty exhausted by the end of the day. Philip and the rest of the guys dropped us off on the opposite end of the island, and then a shuttle brought us back to where we had all parked our cars, ATVs, and scooters. The shuttle ride was pretty quiet! Lots of sleepy, sunburnt tourists.Milos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourMilos Sailing TourIn the end, I'm glad we decided to do this tour. It was a unique way to explore Milos, and I highly recommend it if you're planning a trip to the island! As always, thanks for reading. xo
