There was a Chinese New Year celebration in Seattle yesterday, right in the heart of the International District, so Adam and I went with a few of our friends to check it out. Since Adam is Chinese, his family usually celebrates (I attended their celebration last year) so as we get older and have kids of our own, we want to make sure we keep that tradition alive.
Most celebrations and events in Seattle tend to be pretty packed, but it was borderline chaotic yesterday! I’ve never seen that many people in the I District before and every restaurant had a line out the door, stretching nearly half-way down the block. It was awesome seeing so many people come out to celebrate.
We walked around for a while, checked out an adorable Japanese gift shop, and then decided to head to Sichuanese Cuisine, our favorite Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. It always seems to be pretty busy in there, but we were lucky enough to snag a table.
Hot & Sour Soup, Chengdu Noodles, Pepper Tofu, Dry Cooked String Beans, Spicy Mandarin Chicken, and endless tea… It was all delicious and left our noses delightfully sniffly. 🙂 Happy Year of the Sheep!
